Travel Team Will Complete Six Team League (CBL)

March 22, 2009 - Continental Baseball League (CBL)

The Continental Baseball League will complete it's six team league by adding a travel team for the upcoming 2009 season (Texas Mariners). Opening day is slated for May 14th. This is a unique opportunity for professional and college experience players who have not signed professional contracts for the 2009 season. Selections for the 22 man roster will be handled by the International Performance Baseball (IPB) group, the industry leader in college and professional placement. Players that register will go through a screening process and be asked to attend an eight day spring training in Texarkana, Texas. Reporting date is May 4th. Players will be required to pay a fee of $2995.00 which includes all costs associated will team during Championship season and playoffs. Players that are not selected after spring training camp will be refunded $2495.00 or have the option to become part of the 15 man roster Texarkana Gunslingers developmental squad. IPB Named Official Scouting and Development Group for CBL

Cocoa, Florida - March 21, 2009 - Today International Performance Baseball was announced as the official scouting and development group for the Continental Baseball League. IPB will also acquire ownership and begin operating the Texarkana Gunslingers franchise.

The CBL is entering it's third season with franchises being announced in Dallas Aviators (McKinney), Bay Area Toros (Houston), Alexandria Aces (Louisiana), Alpine, TX, Texarkana, and the sixth team will be based out of Texarkana and will be announced as a travel team (Texas Mariners). Professional and College experienced players will make up the roster for the travel team and a spring training will be in place starting May 4th. IPB has been the leader in professional placement having had 148 players sign professional contracts in the last seven years. The CBL has gotten off to a good start with eight players being purchased by Major League organizations in the last two years.
